@smithmother People tend to judge & criticize what they DON"T understand!! Do your research, there is plenty of current information on the treatments being used everyday using umbilical cord blood. Look at Mandy, the Yale student, Devin, the 3 year old being treated with umbilical stem cells. Really Fred ... which company? This treatment has been documented. Cord blood provides berashis stem cells, which have the advantages of both 'adult' and 'embryonic'. They are pluripotent and have made livers, heart valves, lung & liver tissue. They cross the blood/brain barrier & are excellent for gene, enzyme, and drug therapies.

Very heart warming to hear your son is now living life to the full, he was a brave boy and a very loving family by his side must have helped, my son as just been diagnosed with aplastic anemia and will be having a transplant 18th august, love to you all god bless.
