Hi Skendrii, the crew said in the movie they wanted to head back towards the States but as the radiation poisoning was already taking effect, it was doubtful if they would make it there

One question...at the very end, when the crew of the Sawfish said that they wanted "to go home" and the sub went under for one last time, were they headed back to their home port, or were they actually going to commit suicide somehow?

In the 1959 Movie, I believe Gregory Peck said something like "The men wanted to try to get back home." I take that to mean that they were going to see how far they could get before they were too sick to operate the vessel. Regardless of whether or not they made it back, they probably would have ended up committing suicide to escape their agony. In the original novel, they sunk the sub off the coast of Australia.

Lol. Thanks. I only go for guys though. (The basis for my obsessions is very shallow.) I have never seen Paint Your Wagon, I have only seen a few movies with Lee Marvin. And my current choice is not very internationally famous, is surprisingly alive and is Australian. Yay! Anyway, good luck with your future youtubing. :)
