  • Hello again..may ask how or what scales do you produce when you play around the D7 chord?.. i hear that you play those Am dorian runs, and introduce some outside notes when the D7 chord sounds. your reply would be greatly appreciated

  • @JoshuaVergara2777 i remember only the third part of improvisation.try to use A minor melodic over D7.try to play outside tonality over Am7 and "land" on any interval of D7/9 chord.Try to use half dimished scale over D7 and land on any interval of Am7 chord and the same with Am7 and D7 it's a little hard to explain but i try my best :)

  • what chords do you use in this song..? I really want to know how to play like this.. Hoping you could help ^^

  • @JoshuaVergara2777 Am7 and D7/9

  • I will gladly buy you CD. I will listen when driving.I have been learning this style for a while and the more I listen to the phrasing the better .Good work, keep posting!!!

  • @JoshuaVergara2777 ha well thnx . ill try work out what u mean and put it to use ;)

  • What are you using, arpeggios over the chords? I love the fricking sound of those run offs... I love fusion, I JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO APROACH IT

  • one more thing ^^ when is the best time to play an outside note in the middle of a backingtrack? goodvibes...

  • Hey Thanks a lot for the eye opener...you mean that when the Am7 chord is played i should or may use the dorian scale which is like using the notes in the key of G..is that right? then i can play some outside notes using the half diminished scale when the D7/9 chord rings on the backingtrack...then probably land back to the Am7 chord notes. as you say, i can use the Aminor melodic scale too over the D7.. ill take note of that ^^ . Thanks a lot man! really appreciate your effort!

  • @dantheman500 Ei wazzup.. Im not really good at theory but just know a bit in playing around certain chords that work well in this kinds of Jazz fusion phrasing. this is in A Dorian mode i think, Hes playing in Eminor runs..but for the outside phrasing i dont know much about so Im very sorry. Im trying to get better like you too peace Bro!
