1. Fleeing Georgia
Announcer: Hi boys and girls, the Stanford Band would like to tell you a little bit about what we did with our Summer Vacations. We started out our summer in the premiere vacation layover destination in America Atlanta, Georgia! But what do you know, those Ruskies were up to some mischief! We read in the paper that Russian bombs were raining down upon the state, so we made like pantyhose and ran! The Stanford Band sends its prayers to those brave souls sleeping endless nights in Terminal D, Gate 53.

2. GOP VP Vetting Committee
After fleeing Atlanta, we made our way to Alaska, where we were selected as the only members of John McCains Vice-Presidential Vetting Committee. After spending countless hours scouring FBI background checks, interviewing candidates, and delving into their checkered histories, we found a candidate that we can all get behind: Wed like to congratulate Lipsticked Pitbull Sarah Palin on her nomination as the Republican VP Candidate. Anyone who has ever driven a minivan full of teenage hockey players knows its WAY tougher than negotiating with the US Senate.

3. Olympics
Last month, the whole world tuned in to the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing. Stanford athletes won 25 medals at this year's games, more than all of the Ivy League schools combined! Because the Band wanted to get in on this Olympic domination, we trained extremely hard and petitioned for the inclusion of Beer Pong as an Olympic event. Unfortunately, before the finals, our blood tests came back and we were disqualified for performance enhancing substancesalthough we still don't know exactly how those substances could have possibly been mistaken as "performance enhancing!"

4. The Dark Knight
Like millions of other Americans, The Band spent the first half of the summer getting incredibly hyped for the premiere of the next Batman movie, The Dark Knight. We even dressed up in costumes, something the Band never does. And while some criticized Heath Ledger's performance, calling it lifeless, we enjoyed it. Spoiler alert though, we thought it was anti-climactic having Batman and the Joker team up at the end to find who took Mrs. Gordon's hot apple pie off the window sill while it was cooling.

5. Freshman Facebook
Once we made it back to Palo Alto, we started wondering about what this year's freshman class would bring, so we snagged ourselves copies of the freshman feacebook. Dont worry, Gregory Johnson from Apple Valley, Minnesota, who was the captain of the quiz bowl team in high school, has a pet turtle named Nancy, needs orthopedic inserts in your shoes and keeps a box of tic-tacs in the glove compartment of your blue Toyota Corolla, license plate LTY343... we'll swing by room 335 of Riconada later tonight. Remember, its not stalking if we dont let you call the police!
