like the way you did this video,I did have questions.most the books and bat research we looked up tell you to use plastic or cut grooves in wood,not to use galvanized or metal widow screening,why?? also almost everyone tells you not to stain like you did.is the stain you have non toxic??and a large opening that you have in the bottom,why no predator guard??

please answer asap we have 24 to build this month for a local state park,thank you

good questions! i based all my builds on the plans provided by Bat Conservation International, do a search for the website - can't post web addresses in the replies here. they have great downloadable plans and all sorts of info, we followed their suggestions. good luck with your project! would like to hear more about it when you get a chance please email me eric + gardenfork.tv thx!

@erochow Bat house looks good any tenants since 09?

some of the bat houses are occupied, some aren't. locating the bat house is key. bats like their houses in sunlight to warm the bat house during the day so it will stay warm in the evening.

i see many people locating bathouses under the eaves of a barn or building in the shade, and that wont work for most bats. the bat house needs sun.

bats are my absolute favorite animal, ever since i was young I absolutely adored them. I'm moving off to college soon but I live in Colorado for now and I am going to make a bat house for my parents because the mosquitos are absolutely horrible where we live. Also they would make awesome pets.

what kind words, thank you. my experience with Labradors is that using a dog crate - kennel is key. our pups love the crate, its their den-bedroom, they feel very safe in their crates.

it also helps to housetrain them.
