@1800nunyabiz He did have a name already, but it was not used at the orphanage and therefore did not respond to it. He transitioned very easily to his new name, within a matter of days. The decision to change an adopted child's name is a very difficult and personal decision for adoptive families.
this is such a beautiful story, thank you for sharing! My husband and I are conside3ring adoption as well, however are unsure whether international or domestic fits us better. How did you guys choose? And how long did the process take from start to finish?
Thanks and God bless you and youre beautiful family!
Thank you. Our process (with both adoptions, we adopted again this year) took 10 months from start to finish. However, our time was shorter because we were open to either gender age 3 or under. We chose international for many different reasons, but ultimately we discovered that there were more kids available for adoption in Russia than in the U.S. We had looked into the US foster care system but did not find any children available in our age range with only minor special needs. Good luck!
We used WACAP in Seattle, WA. There are many reputable agencies out there...in Michigan there is Lighthouse Adoptions. Also consider EAC out of Ohio. Good luck!
didnt that boy have a name already? Wouldn't it be hard for a kid to just "get a new name" when their original is all they know?
