Steelhead are the best !! I lived in Michigan for 17 years and miss the awesome fishing more than just about anything else. I have a 14 lb. 15 oz. male Skamania Steelhead that I caught out of the Paw Paw River mounted on my wall.

@dookiekong007 and for flies its the same setup and also jigs work but put wax worms on them. any more question pm.

@dookiekong007 lol okay for float fishing spawn I use a 9ft noodle spining rod and a spining reel that holds at least 150yds ofnnormal mono 8lb line. Then I put a raven float on the main line(8lb line on the reel)then I tie on a small swivel on the normal mono 8lb then on the other loop of the swivel I attach of 3-3 feet of fluro carbon line. Then I attach a eagle claw laser sharp 6 hook. Then I put on split shots to balance the float from biggest split shot to smallest down the line.

@flyfisher4life1 ah, no wonder I never got any steelhead using 12lb mono. I'm fishing for steelhead at Chagrin and Grand. For years, I'd been using floating spawn bags and this artificial egg that you have to make into a ball under just regular bobbers. Please tell me what is wrong with my method. I also use fly rods but barely since I'm still new. And I also heard you could use flies under bobber? I mean how can you cast with that?

@dookiekong007 yeah thats what i do for steelhead I buy 6lb Berkley Vanish fluro carbon line. I like fluro carbon because its invisible to fish. What are you going to fish for?
-
@flyfisher4life1 Ok, so I get that. About the tippet, can't I just use a small lb test mono line instead of buying the expensive tippet?
-
@dookiekong007 okay this is the usal setup for fly fishing first is backing then fly line which is the thick colored line you see then you have the monofilament leader and then the point of the leader wich is called the tippet. You can make your own leaders by tieing different lb test monofilament lines. Google fly fishing setups and your other question for more info.
-
Wait, so the leader comes after the thick visible floating line and then the tippet? Then what is the point of the leader? I'm still new in this fly fishing world and it seems like there are so many new things keep popping while I'm still trying to learn the basics. Like I just learned about the Center Pin Reel and the Float Reel? What else do I need to know? lol. Please help me out with everything I should know.

What song is that at the beginning?
Great stuff Tim! Good footage, good info and good music. Let's hope we can get a few more fish before spring's over.
