Have a question po kpag nakakakita po ako ng mga k9 unit sa mga mall napapansin ko minsan naka upo o nakatayo lng ung dog pano po kpag nakaamoy ang dog lalapit na lng po ba ung dog sa container o sa bag na pinaglalagyan ng kung anu man yon???????

When a bomb dog is resting, or "switched off", it is not in search mode. The handler switches his dog on if there is a need to search. However, yes, a highly driven bomb dog may decide switch itself on if it gets a sniff of an odor coming from a source where there are explosive components, and indicate to his handler of an unexpected find.

the dog SITS as a passive alert indication that there is a positive find i.e. an explosive component is present in the item. but when a dog sits in front of boxes of dried fish without a positive explosive inside, it only shows poor training (the dog may be hungry, hehe!). U can refer to the AFP K9's standard procedures where they mentioned items that cause false alert to bomb dogs (ex. filaments of a thermos bottle)..
