Breaking the Silence is about a group of Alaska Native youth who are speaking out against suicide. Led by their group leader, Cynthia, the Tanana 4-H youth group -- from the Alaska Native village of Tanana, Alaska -- created an anti-suicide pledge that is gaining statewide recognition. In October, 2013, seven from the group showed courage at the Alaska Federation of Natives' Elders and Youth Conference by speaking in personal terms about suicide, substance abuse and domestic violence. This video is about the Tanana 4-H, their activities and projects. It includes the full footage of their presentation at the Elders and Youth Conference.
