What a great film and the choice of gang of four is very appropriate... The movie's message is one of wasteful grandeur, misplaced wealth, and aristocratic greed; and the soundtrack reflects that by drawing a parallel to the economic disparity that gang of four was providing social commentary on during the 1980s. This heaven gives me migraine.

In fact, it does if you've ever seen the movie. I think the director was trying to demonstrate Marie's teenage life.

It was supposed to be boring. It was designed to show how boring and out of touch Mary Antoinette's life was. Hence, the use of the Gang of Four song.
I actually found it to be really interesting. It's slow, true, but far from boring.
