Andrew Keen talks about the Web 2.0 revolution and how he believes that free information on the internet has promoted the cult of the amateur.

What do you think?

Is the internet an outlet for free speech or a place where anyone can say anything regardless of it's truth?

What are the consequences of free access to publish anything?

What affect does it have on how we determine what is accurate and what is not?

Does the internet allow people the opportunity to say things they would not say in real life?

  • A brilliant vision of doomism.

  • @Pittounikos He is the bearer of doom a tad but I think we can pick out some good points from what he says.

  • @BonMache123 Listen, he didn't post this video on youtube. He's not listening. Barack Obama may have used the internet to appeal to young voters, but for the most part the internet is a vast universe of unchecked information. It started out as a revolution but is quickly being overrun by bloggers, "wikies", and other self important people who all blab about their opinions while not listening to others. It's constantly being dumbed down by viral videos, games, and generally useless information.

  • @DeeperRootsProject who is andrew keen i got the same last name lol

  • President Barack Obama used the Cult of the Amateur to win an election. How amateurish is this? Your theory is so far off, that only someone from Britain could devise such an ignorant and yesteryear approach. Hold a town hall style debate with me. Why are you so scared.

  • Andrew, why don't you have a debate with a regular educated guy who loves the Internet. Get off your high horse and do it. New York is a great town for debate. Why are you so scared?
