This is exactly 2 weeks since the open excision. The lighting makes it looks like there are tracts in the wound; however, this is not the case. This was about the best we could do.

  • I think i have to do this suergery, i have a bump on my tailbone and a small small hole 3-4 centimeters under, did you have the same?

  • @megabauta23 That's exactly how mine started. I found that the hole would drain every now and then. Sounds like you should get it checked out. Best wishes and keep us informed.

  • Thanks dude. He is had his op, definately worth getting rid of the hair as it makes changing the dressing so much better. Anyone in the UK, if you have BUPA make sure they authorise the dressing changes at your private hospital, otherwise they will send you back to the GP. He hurts a bit, went down 1.5cm, but coping well. Thanks for your video, it really helped to understand what was expected. He has problems sitting, anyone out there got any ideas???

  • @MrSimonthedude You might want to look into buying a tush-cush. I have one and it works pretty well, especially when I am driving. Good luck!

  • Dude, hope you get this. My son is having this done next week. He is 16 years old and they have appeared in the last 4 months, so I am hoping we caught it early enough that his cut isn't too deep. However, he has a VERY hairy butt and in your video you said avoid getting hair in the way. How did you stop it going into the wound? Is it best to get his butt checks fully waxed because of the dressings?

  • @MrSimonthedude

I probably wouldn't do waxing. My wife used to pluck the hair, but this seemed to make the problem worse. We ended up shaving the area with a razor (although in one video we didn't do a good job with the shaving). And actually, having the skin shaved makes removing the tape from dressing changes much easier. Hope this helps!

  • @Halifae It's not so much a false bottom as it is an open top... like if I were to look at it, its still there somewhat, but I really only feel it when I clean the area with lotion, otherwise in my daily life, I don't even feel that I ever had surgery. I just HATE going to doctors and I just wish this is something I never have to deal with again, it's not easy laying yourself bare like that!

  • If you do have a wound then you might want to look into there being a false bottom to the hole made. Sometiimes the wound heals over an open space instead of from the inside out and leaves a pocket beneath it. I don't know if that would cause stinging on the skin though.

  • @silentxinsanityy Do you still have an open wound? After a year of healing it should not sting or burn when you do that...unless perhaps you're using like a "Nair," type product and have extra sensitive skin, or leave the cream on too long?

  • @Halifae It's been over a year sine I got mine done... I'm okay now, and as of yet, doesn't seem like it's come back. My doctor told me I need to clean the area every few weeks with hair removal cream to make sure hair doesnt begin to grow inwards again but the problem is for some reason, part of my wound is raw I guess, because everytime I do it, it stings like crazy and for a day or two afterward, I'm in pain once again because the wound just feels raw. Has this happened to you?

  • @silentxinsanityy I had mine done closed-wound but it infected and ruptured. Then we had to treat it open-wound. Went from the surgeon to a wound care unit at the hospital and then to a plastic surgeon who wanted to redo the surgery. We used a wound vac first and luckily that healed it right up! I think I have another one again though 2 years later. I get the same familiar pain. Going to the doctor next week to confirm :/

  • @megabauta23 Does it ever drain? I had a major system of cysts and a huge sinus. Thank god they were able to close my wound and I didn't have to deal with this kind of healing process. It has been years now, and I still can't feel half my ass. They did a great job with the scar. Almost can't see it. You may have a cyst and a sinus too.

  • had mine removed only to have it grow back with a vengeance!!! don't even wish the pain upon my enemies!!!!

  • So I guess your surgeon packed it everyday? Man my surgeon didnt do any of that sadly.

  • im guessing this is the open wound technique? i got closed wound, and it heals faster, and theres no need to worry about a nurse coming everyday to change the dressing. at the same time, im worried it may come back. however at the moment, my doctor says its healting very well. i'm 5 weeks post op and walking/driving, but with caution

did anyone else have closed-wound? i feel like im the only one lol most of the info online also pertains to open-wound

  • @PiloGuy82 Will it hurt after the surgery? It looks pretty damn painful, and will i be able to clean it myself? don't have any possibility to get to the hospital :( And i guess i won't be able to motocross?
