"Rocky Point Holiday" by Ron Nelson
Wind Ensemble (Cascade High's premiere band)

Rocky Point Holiday was Ron Nelson's first major work and was inspired while he was on vacation at a seaside resort on the coast of Rhode Island; hence the name. It was a commission from Frank Bencriscutto and the University of Minnesota band for a tour of Russia. Free of limitations from the band, Nelson was quoted that he was going to write a tremendously difficult piece. The score of Rocky Point Holiday was completed in 1969.
