I'm going to make sure my dad and his career associates watch this... Beautiful... (And your choice of soundtrack and sync job were pretty good too... LOL)
This is definitely getting designated in my "bookmark" favorites...
A Delta 2 rescheduled launch earlier tonight must have gotten scrubbed...Too bad since it was a perfect no fog, no cloud, no wind evening. This vehicle has been plauged with bad luck delays... I wonder what happened?) Post some more...

This is definately getting designated in my "bookmark" favorites...

Excluding the flash and descible cracking rumble, and if you're lucky, comments and insights from someone who works/worked out there on them, a launch observed from a location close to the launch site really isn't very impressive as compared to a distant and clear vantage point under ideal conditions as in this footage.
Thanks for sharing. This is definately THE best launch I've ever seen.. I remember this one. It had an unusual trajectory. Up and gone. Not like this.
Dad came to Lompoc with Convair on the Atlas program in 59. I was born in 62'. I've seen launches... Up close it is neat to hear and feel the crackling percussion of sound or how the exhaust will light up everything below the clouds for a few seconds... This is the second distant view of a VAFB launch I've ever seen. First was from Goleta in 2002 of a Titan IV. ( continued )
Amazing. I can't wait till the next launch in September... I hope it's at night. From what I've been told the contrail is actually reflecting the light of the sun, which is why it is so vibrant. It looks like god carving open the night sky.
Keith Emerson would be proud. I couldn't see the 1 AM, 4/2/08 Minuteman III launch from West Covina (Too much water vapor in the atmosphere I guess). Great job. This is the best twilight launch I've seen on video. They should all look like this.
