Deborah Butter field gave an artist lecture 4/17/09 at Otis College of Art and Design. Horses have been the single, sustained focus of Deborah Butterfield's life and work. Since the mid-1980s, she has been creating sculpture of horses using found wood gathered in Montana and Hawaii. She casts the finished wood sculpture in bronze, and applies a patina to emulate the appearance of the original wood elements. She also uses discarded steel or copper tubing, cutting and welding the parts together. Her wok is in museum collections across the country
