Last week we headed into Manhattan for a few days just to see some sights and eat some great food. One evening we met up with My cousin Ron & His lovely wife Kerri. On their recommendation we went out for dinner at Mara's Homemade down in the East Village.

Let me tell you right up front this was one of the All Time Greatest meals I have ever had!
Mara & Dave were very gracious hosts, each made us feel right at home as soon as we walked in the door, and Bart was super great table-side.

We ate like kings, truly an epic meal. We started with a bucket of crawfish & a plate gator bites, followed with blackened shrimp, soft shell crabs, & creole catfish. We indulged in crab cheesecake, fried green tomatoes, which were fresh out of Mara's garden & of course crab fingers!
There was also and a platter called Steven's Ultimate Combo - which was a platter O' plenty! This plate was fully stocked with ribs, brisket, cornbread, smoked sausage, fried okra, cole slaw and smoked chicken!

Everything from Mara's Kitchen is prepared after your order is placed, and this means the freshest, most delicious food arrives at your table. I have to say that the food was incredible and seemed endless! We sat down about 5:30 and walked out the door somewhere around 10PM.

Mara's Homemade could not get a higher recommendation from me as a wonderful place to sit down, relax and have one of the best meals you have ever eaten!

Joe, sounds like a plan to me! The libraries down here run regular cheapo train rides ($7.75 roundtrip out of Ronkonkoma) to Manhattan on designated Saturdays.
