@BeastLordofMetal My Apocalypse has some really good double bass too. And he doesn't get lazy live, I've been to shows. His drums are just terribly mixed in live performances. The mics are set up for drummers with more power in their legs (Jordison), and since Lars uses more of his ankle than his whole leg, it just doesn't pick up very well.

Lars still has the ability he's just lazy as shit.
He did some decent double bass in st anger, but unfortunately decided to use pans as snares.
