This is Francis P. Church's 1897 editorial that appeared in the New York Sun Newspaper after receiving a letter from eight year old Virginia O'Hanlon asking if there is a Santa Claus. The editorial was such a hit with the papers readership that it was republished every year from 1897 until the newspaper closed its doors in 1949.
