This is a video I made to say goodbye to the R42s that operate the L in rush hour to help the line be less crowded. These R42s are sadly being replaced by R160s.
RIP R42s on the L, You won't be forgotten.

  • technically, from what ive heard a long time ago, first they got replaced by r-143's.then those got moved and replaced by r-160's.correct me if im wrong

  • Nope. Back in the day the R143s ran OPTO service on the weekends. Then the OPTO service was replaced by R160s. Then shortly there after they started running R160s weekdays, and phased out the R42s.

  • The r142,r143 and r160 suk the r142 don't even have 15 yrs in service and have to many issues and r143 and r160 don't even have 10yrs in service and have brake and power issue what does this tell u that they suk the r32 and r42 have 40+ yrs in service don't have any issues the r62 and r68 have 20+ yrs in service no issues this tells u that the newer cars are not strong enough for heavy service like the older cars.

  • oh shit really cool thanks!

  • @pitoappep1977 I thought the R40's were better. Just my opinion.

  • @MrTransman99 Maintenance. Too expensive to maintain.

  • the R38's were the best I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS. The R46 improved after the GTO.

  • @mikhailkolyadov At least the 6 is getting the R62A's back with 4 getting 80 sets so at least not all r142/r142A at lexington.

  • @junjun798 this tells you never cars have a lot more components in them that need some fine tuning. it's called progress. and frankly R143s and R160s have a much higher MTBF than a lot of these older trains...

  • I STILL SEE ONE OR TWO R42 ON THE J TRAINS OR Z TRAINS.
