Launched in 1984, Hasbro's Transformers toyline was promoted through both a comic book by Marvel Comics and an animated series produced by Sunbow Productions. Although the comic outlived the animated series by a number of years, it was the animated series that truly captured the hearts and minds of children worldwide more so than any other piece of Transformers media from its twenty-three year history. With the original show's conclusion in 1987, original series exclusive to Japan were created which ran until 1990, and the franchise was later re-imagined with the fully CGI Beast Wars in the late 1990s. The 21st Century saw a total reboot of the Transformers universe, as Hasbro collaborated with Japanese Transformers producers Takara to create a new storyline with Transformers: Armada and its sequels, produced in Japan and then dubbed for English-speaking audience. In 2008, production of Transformers animation returned to North America with the current series, Transformers: Animated.

I Agree.

But then again if you really look back on it the love for this stuff over any of the new stuff could be fairly significantly contributed by pure nostalgia and wishing to be young again.

But either way i really love these shows and would watch them again any day. (The new TFAnimated is actually really good too though)

I also like the part where fight on the purple grid. It's all like: oh no the grids disappearing and Optimus is all like: yeah were all gonna die but I'll be taking you to hell with me Megatron cuz I'm Optimus Prime motherfucker!

@Tw1stedMoogle ..... ummm, if you were young again and you had the choice between transformers Gen 1 and transformers the animated series.... theres just no contest, G1 ftw. Cartoons these days just don't measure up to any degree. Have little animals in balls all day and pop them out to fight each other. There just isn't any competition. Its not just nostalgia and wishing to be young again, its content, entertainment value and so much more that won't fit here. That was the era of the great toons

This is such an awesome intro tune. The ending credits sound just as good too, and have a sick bass line.
