Who doesn't love chocolate syrup? I know that it is easy to go to the store and buy a gallon sized bottle of the stuff, but have you looked at the ingredients? First up, High Fructose Corn Syrup! This is not fit for food, it is not good for any of us, because the corn sugar has been so chemically modified its just not healthy. On top of that what they use to process it, contains Mercury! We don't need that and we certainly don't want to feed it to our kids.

Here is an easy and inexpensive way to make your own. Face it, you probably have cocoa, sugar, vanilla, salt and water anyway, so why buy what you already have?

I jarred mine up in some jelly jars and put it in the fridge. This should easily keep for up to 3 months (if it lasts that long). Make your chocolate milk, hot chocolate and ice cream sundaes with it.

You can also give this as a great gift for the chocoholic friend in your life. Put this in a basket with a nice mug, some great coffee and some cookies and you have a nice mocha basket that anyone who likes coffee will love. OR, just give this syrup along with some of your other homemade goodies and you are good to go. Everyone loves a gift from the kitchen or anything home or hand made for that matter.

Remember The holidays are about love NOT stuff!I

I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it, as always thanks for watching and Happy Gifting and Happy Eating!

  • at my house we hAVE PURE VANILLA EXTRACT IS THAT OK

  • @Pris247 Yes, pure vanilla is the only thing you want to use. I use my homemade vanilla which is pure vanilla extract as well, just homemade. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and commenting. Noreen : )

  • Can splenda be used instead of sugar?

  • @PriscillaZorn Nope, this needs real sugar in order to thicken and process properly. I understand the need for some people to use artificial sweeteners due to health issues, however doing some research on splenda and nutrisweet will reveal that they are both poison, one chemical and one coming from the natural sugar base and being chemically modified into a poison.

  • Hi! Love your videos. Can I use only sugar in this recipe? Will it turn out without corn syrup?

  • @olensiin1 There is no corn syrup in this recipe, only cocoa, water, sugar and vanilla.

  • @atticus; Most welcome, friend. Please don't let people like him hurt you. As my Mom always said when I was crushed over mean comments, "consider where it comes from". I have found that people like him are very sad, lonely, friendless folks who will do anything for attention, and a release of their anger. You do an EXCELLENT job of sharing ways we can all enjoy delicious foods w/o poisoning our families. None of us want to live on rabbit food. Your lovely family is also an inspiration. Thanks!

  • @Pattycakessmiles Thank you for your support. People like this occasionally make their way to my vids. I have blocked this Neanderthal and he will not be bothering us again. I will leave his comments here so others can see the thread of the conversation. On average I get 2 per week that call me names and make me mad. I even had one bring me to tears with his comment. Funny thing though, these people never have any uploads or friends! Go figure. Thanks, I appreciate you! Noreen

    Shakira:)

  • This recipe looks really good! I got a bonus laugh at the end when I noticed that you had dripped some of the syrup on yourself while tasting. :)

  • I love this video and can't wait to make it. My boys who are 4and 5 LOVE chocolate milk and I would much rather they have this. Can I can this and put it in my food storage? I know it's not hard to make, but would like to have on hand. Love your videos and ideas, Thank you and God Bless

  • Vanillin is also inside the natural bean of vanilla, and with all the other crap they're trying to sell us, i thought you should know that at least in this case, Synthetic vanillin is not any worse than vanilla, as vanilla is just vanillin + the other stuff of which the bean is made. This is one of the very few cases in which synthetizing the molecule just leads to more concentrated flavour without any health problem

  • I'm so glad to hear that aspartame makes wood alchahol in my body because I always need more alchahol in my blood, haha

  • How long does the syrup last in the fridge? And can you store this syrup in your food storage?
