  • It would be real nice... if a Museum would be interested in Restoring that history that is now rusting away. Ren, you live up there. Maybe "The Scotia Museum" if approached would be interested? Those tracks lead right to the front of the Museum in Scotia. They also have a Narrow Gauge engine parked there too. It's a perfect fit! That Daylight Express when restored, would be a Beautiful addition and wonderful tourist attraction to add to a bright future to theTown of Scotia.

  • where is that old coach car stored at?

  • South> of the town of Scotia then Aprox~1/2 mile North> of the 101 bridge over the Eel River. It's parked on a track hidden in the forest behind locked gates parked on "private property".

    I have a satellite photo that I had to enhance the image to bring out the train.. At the time the photo was taken there was cloud cover over that area, clouding the view of the satellite. After the enhancement, the photo now shows the train clearly. I can send you a copy if you like.

  • I too saw a few Southern Pacific coaches like these on a vacation up to Oregon (which suprised me to no end), they were across the street from the Oregon science center thing (the name escapes me, but I think its initials are OSTC, or something clever like that). There were also some santa fe coaches and some old union pacific coaches. It was wierd to see them all there, but it was pretty cool, they had a bunch of christmas stuff in them, for what reason I have no idea, lol

  • I really like collecting model trains. I most hugged my MTH HO Daylight, because the Daylight is my favorite train of all. When I saw those poor beat up cars I wanted to know why they were there. One question ran through my mind after watching this video.

    Why aren't those southern pacific coach cars in Ohio the state the Daylight was built in.

  • There are also some abandoned SP Daylight coaches in the small Irish town above Geyserville.

  • Google;

    Eureka Southern, formed to haul freight and run excursion trains.

    Forestville train buff and collector Neil T. Ferguson supplied the passenger cars he called the Northcoast Daylight, leftovers from SP’s distinctive orange fleet that whizzed up and down the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles as the Daylight and the Starlight. (These are the abandoned cars at Willits and Asti that are currently being offered for sale.)

    Located in Forestville, CA

  • What will happen 2 daylight coaches will 4449 use again?

  • lol haunted coaches

  • Sad to see this. These cars belong restored in a place where all can enjoy. I for one am going to write some letters on this one! I can't believe this could happen to something that is so much a part of the heritage and history of our Country. No one seems to care about that anymore. Pretty sad!

  • Being a Model railroader and loving the daylight, this brings tears to my eyes to see! If I could win the lottery, I would rescue them myself! I am going to write museums to see if anyone can rescue these cars. As all history, these are part of our heritage and need a home. It is really sad to see them rusting away. It's almost like they are hiding them?

  • No they can't. i have an idea, restore the cars and move tem to lima,ohio the birth place of the DAYLIGHT
