Valentine's Day is Over

Apparently this year I didn't do a good job with the gift on Valentine's Day. Fortunately I will be able to do my best to make amends. Unfortunately so many other women may get the flowers they want on Valentine's Day, but are treated shabbily and sometimes violently the rest of the year... Billy Bragg states the case so well. In his story there is a happy ending and the bum is thrown out, but that is so often not the case - women suffer and die. One hopes that more and more women can find the protection, support and strength to do stand up for themselves and their children.

I was pleased to see Amnesty International get involved in trying to protect women from domestic violence and I have been involved in that effort. I'd love to see more and more men and women join us now that Valentine's Day is over.
