I like the idea with the doran mode. I would like to use my flute moreso in the classical style which of course will require me to use some more pitches if I am to switch between like an Aeolian to a harmonic minor for instance. Also, what about all chromatic notes? is that a good Idea? Maybe a secondary thumb hole to play the group of notes past the 5th? anyway, I should just experiment but I am curious to see what you think. Anyway, cool stuff man.

@stepminestepminestep For chromatic notes, you basically have to "half hole" the tone holes. You slightly lift your finger to only cover half the hole. So if you have all 3 right fingers down and were playing a G for example, you would slightly lift the 3rd lowest finger and produce a G#. Although easier said then done.
Not sure about another thumb hole. Once I get to the octave, I basically just overblow so my thumb is not covering the hole once I get to the octave.

first off i would like to thank you for the time you spent to allow us all to acquire this information.
i was wondering the tuning of this perticular flute you are playing in this video.
im interested in a deep tone as in the one you are playing.

@theforgetable I tuned the lowest note to G (392 Hz). Also, the 3rd note up from there is a Bb and the 7th note is F natural.

Wow, I don't have the tools or the work space at the moment and like Chessdude67 I would be keen to buy a flute if you considered making one.

@templeofpan You might take a look on YouTube at "Junkdojo" where he makes a very simply version of this. It wouldn't take nearly the tools to make one.
