They both do die.
I felt cheated when I was happy when they ended up together in that one scene. I hate how they both died.
Briony is an unforgivable child.

@orlandogirl213 well, to be fair,i read the book and only saw the end of the movie. but don't get me wrong what i said was simply what happened in the book. i agree with you that briony is horrible for what she did, and possibly the most unlikable main character EVER.

@orlandogirl213 briony wasn't against her sister's happiness. it had nothing to do with that.
she saw what cecilia and robbie did in the library and immediately came to the worst of conclusions. when she sent him to jail, she thought he was a rapist, and that she was saving cecilia. then she realizes she made a mistake and spends her life trying to ATONE for what she did. hence the title of the book/movie.

but the ending is fitting. and it was beautiful. half of my wishes is wasnt so so ans the other half understands why it had to be that way.

No, Robbie and Ce said they loved each other and she heard it. She knew Robbie wasn't a rapist. She just wanted him away from her sister so they'd be miserable forever. If she wanted to atone, she should've admitted she committed perjury. She had no right to send Robbie to jail because there was no evidence and she had no right to think him a rapist. She knew he was perfect 4 Ce. She has no right to save her sister because Ce is wiser. Briony is pure evil.
