Hmm . . . . Wagner premieres one of his greatest works, Parsifal, in 1882, and drops dead in Venice, February 1883, age 69. In 1885, Verdi premieres Otello and in 1893 (age 80), Falstaff. Dies in 1901, age 87. Verdi wins. :P
@escamy You're welcome...Allen singing Verdi and especially Ford is quite hard to come by. I believe he's only recorded this aria just once and that was on his second Opera in English CD.

@interpreterr There's a video of him singing Ford? Now that is a must see (amongst other lovely things he's done, that is). =)
And I can't help but always remember 'In Touch with Life' whenever I hear this aria since he sings it at the beginning of the programme.
