This is a HP LED demonstrator from the early 1990s. Note the silicon carbide (SiC) blue LEDs. The demonstrator is set at 5mA of current, displayed on the bitmapped green display at the bottom.

  • Don't know who the maker was but I remember when my dad brought home a blue LED to me. They were so expensive they where delivered one at a time in a small jewelry box from the local electronics store(!)

  • Oh the days when hp used to actually make stuff !
