from 1988's "Victory Day" album

She's got her reasons, she's got her pride
Though she's beaten black and blue
One fine day she'll be walking outside
She'll turn to see what is true
Won't draw no curtains, be hiding no way
On that Victory Day

She's stuck it out, she's hung in tough
She won't be running away
He says it will change, but each time it does
It starts up all over again
He wants the thunder, the crashing of waves
The guts, the glory of victory parades
She says it just never happens that way
On that Victory Day

Victory Day, Victory Day
There's no rockets flaring, there's no loud display
If you walk with me we'll get there someway
On that Victory Day

In the sun, walk by the water, in the sun
She says life isn't big, not it's kind of small
Made of small moments, they're all strung together
If you don't look out, you might miss them all
Then it's just passed you on by like the weather
He wants that thunder and crashing of waves
The guts, the glory of victory parades
She says I'll give you much more than you'll take
On that Victory Day

Victory Day, Victory Day
There's no rockets flaring, there's no loud display
If you walk with me we'll get there someway
On that Victory Day

And he's gotten so close and he won't let it fade
And the reasons still haunt you for the mistakes you made
She says let it go, 'cause it's time for a change
But he's still a little boy trapped between pages
Time to walk away from him
She said "I'll take you some place where I know it will change"

Victory Day, Victory Day
There's no rockets flaring, there's no loud display
If you walk with me we'll get there someway
On that Victory Day, on that Victory Day

  • This guy doesn't get half as much credit as he should. The rest of America needs to wake up and realize that Tom's talents go far beyond "Life is a Highway"

  • Great song

  • Reminds me of riding with my dad hauling equipment

  • @8888888060580 I agree!!!

  • @MagicTGman

Realized that a couple years out of high-school....1986 to be exact. Life is a Highway came out long after that. If other people don't like what we like.....Oh well.. Tastes & differences are what makes us human. Some like to stay the "Pop" route...Their choice and loss.

  • im in love with the song and im a teen and this beats all the shitty music that is on today

  • After Sid screamed IGGY and then did what Sid does does best...seconds later the chorus of this song should have thundered from the Vancouver arena!

  • What a voice... he is so underrated... such a national treasure... Thanks for all the great music Tom!

  • I love this music !

  • Tom writes some beauty "anthem" tunes..they sound like tributes to guys marching home from war, or Stanley Cup winners, but the songs are really about women stuck in relationships with guys who refuse to grow up.

  • Seen the best Tom Cochran Concert ever Mattawa Voyageur Days 2010!!!

Come on by Way North of Toronto

  • @40monkeyman Ha! His account is closed. Couldn't happen to a nicer piece of dogcrap.

I don't support war, in part because seeing our youth come back in body bags is the last thing I want.
