Not a scam some mindless dribble implied. I beg to differ. Recommending a new air filter when one is not needed; what part of the word recommend do you not understand. If they said "The installed air filter is sub standard compared to this one we'd like to install," that would be a different story. But when they use the word recommend they are implying that something is wrong with your current air filter. The manipulation of words is about the oldest scam technique there is. Politicians.

Its not a scam when they recommend a new air filter even if its new, or Better oil, " and it is better". Its a scam if you pay then to do it and the work isn't performed. If you dont want the new air filter or the recommended oil, then say NO. Its not that hard.

Right...it's funny how people complain about air filters, gear services, synthetics, etc. But then they wonder why their intake manifolds back up, their transmissions slip, or their main bearings blow. I'm sorry to tell you, but maintaining a vehicle IS EXPENSIVE. And buying new maintenance parts is a part of keeping your vehicle in top shape. I hate to burst your bubble, but we do this for a living, we're in school for this, this is OUR LIFE. We do know what we're talking about. Sorry for help.
