Do to ice we have not been doing any saddle or driving work. Crossing the legs just started the day before I took this video and lifting left and right leg on voice was taken on his 12th training lesson. We do not use halters, ropes or whips for this training nor do we stand them along a fence line or wall. Training is done for 5 minutes per lesson and also done 3 times a day. "Good boy Good boy" may be irritating for some people to hear but it is used for our horse. Crossing the front legs was started the day before I took the video. Lessons are for only 5 minutes a day, 3 times a day, which includes a lot of praise. Treats only for the first few times : ) After which it is all scratches and praise.
My camera froze up so sadly I could not take of his camel stretch. That will be on his next video.
Shads is doing very well. As you can see he is paying attention to me, although me cuing with the same hand I am holding the camera with makes it a bit confusing but he tries! He has a mare in with him, ( I don`t think the calf running around in the back ground is on this footage) and he is also across the fence from other mares, foals and stallions.
The Lusitano/Andalusian aren`t "Really" war horses as much as "bullfighting" horses. They are great, strong, working horses : ) We use them in harness, working cattle, lessons, you name it they do it. Like all horses you can get good and bad in any breed. I`ve seen some I wouldn`t have if they where given to me : ) My so now rides this stallion around doing the spanish walk and we can almost complete a reining pattern without bridle/rope..something we sure couldn`t do when we first got him!
