@joetrainer31 It's kinda complicated...she was created to replace the Human Torch, whose rights were owned by some other people at the time (which started a rumor about kids burning themselves).
So she started off as a cartoon, and was eventually transferred to the comics.

@joetrainer31 They later brought her into the comics, and she even appears in a couple of video games (1995's Spider-Man/Venom Maximum Carnage and last year's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2) but never as a playable character.
