After countless hours of toil and sweat, I am very proud to present to you my latest cinematic Red Orchestra short movie, RED ORCHESTRA: Overture to War.

Unlike my previous RO movies, Overture to War is completely centered around musical selection. As a musician myself, I wanted to base an action-packed "drama" completely around a musical piece. For Overture to War, I chose Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," because it is a great work of art in itself and really captures the fury and unforgiving conditions of war.

Like my other movies, this one is completely UNSCRIPTED, and uses clips from online battles on public servers, without the players knowing they were being filmed.

Please enjoy and stay for the credits!

Special thanks to...

The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, who provided the great recording of the epic 1812 Overture, Tripwire Interactive for making such a fun and cinematic game, and all the servers and players of RO -- without them, this movie wouldn't have been possible!

  • Amazing video, that classical music is a lot better than that metal shit which is used everywhere! Make more vids like this!

  • @Sandokaaann When RO2 releases in late August, I'll be making more epic RO movies :D

  • The second mucis sounds alot like French national Hymn : "Allons enfants de la patrie"... odd for WW2 battles between Russians and Germans but... nice video anyway, love it !

  • @Evil1270 That is because the music you are referring to IS a quotation of La Marseillaise. The 1812 Overture was written by Tchaikovsky to commemorate the 75th anniversary of defeating Napoleon's army (in 1812). So naturally, he quotes both the Russian National Hymn and the French to symbolize the two forces in the battle.

  • Who edited this? jesus, you stolen all potential ofd this post!!!!!! It could have been REALLY somthing,

  • @rachmaniralf Are you referring to how I cut up the piece itself? I didn't include the ENTIRE 1812 Overture because it's about 15-20 minutes long and no machinima work that focuses on game play (no story, etc) can keep anyone's interest for that long. It just wouldn't be an effective video.

  • @marcineer the opening is actually a hymn from the russian orthodox church. as is it always in the 1812 overture. most do not know this as they dont know the origins of this piece of music. they just assume its 'that music we hear on the fourth of july'"
