Part 1 Summary: Tess keeps working to convince Jared that Natalie really did break up with him. She totally hams it up, knowing that Natalie's seeing it all from the secret room. Jared's still unconvinced; the letter that's supposedly from Natalie doesn't sound like her. Despite Tess's best efforts, Jared takes the letter to the only other person in town who knows Nat well. No, it's not Cristian, since he's missing. It's John!
John reads the letter and seems to take it at face value. Jared makes a mysterious phone call. He also accidentally helps John with the search for Cristian. When he mentions that he had met a Mortimer Bern in Colombia, John jumps on that: Carlo used that alias to leave Mendorra!
Earlier, John goes to tell Blair about Cristian's disappearance, because she's friends with Cris and was once his bed buddy. Blair's surprised and touched.
While Jared's out looking for Natalie, Tess goes downstairs to give her breakfast and tell her what she really plans to do with Natalie and Jared: Make Jared fall out of love with Natalie and in love with "Jessica." Natalie totally flips out.
At La Boulaie, Starr has first-day-of-school jitters. Meanwhile, Ray shows up (much to Dorian's displeasure) to give Langston a necklace that belonged to her mom. Langston's pleased as punch and so excited to see her long-lost uncle, but Dorian remains wary. After Langston and Starr leave for school, she demands to know what exactly he wants with HER foster daughter.
But maybe Ray's intentions aren't so bad. Earlier, when Clint coaches Ray to get closer to Langston, you can tell Ray doesn't mind. It seems Langston reminds him a lot of his kid sister, Linda. Cristian is surprised when the guard tells him his "wife" came back -- for a conjugal visit! Vanessa enters, looking totally hot, and agrees to contact Antonio for Cristian if he helps her find Ray.
Starr's not the only one with first-day-of-school nerves. Matthew's dreading his first day as a high school freshman. It doesn't help that Bo and Nora are there, fawning over him. Nora even made him lunch -- egg salad!
But Uncle Clint and Cole get it. Cole promises to watch Matthew's back at school. He'll even let the little guy sit with him and his buddies at lunch. Clint gives the boys some spending money, which makes Nora glow. That's the guy she loves, not the corporate cowboy
The fact that Langston's biologial mother never spoke of a brother should in itself say something about this uncle.
