Thousands of cards sent to the Holiday Mail for Heroes mailbox were sorted at chapters across the US and at American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, DC on Saturday, December 10th. More than 26,000 cards were sorted at Red Cross Headquarters, as volunteers and staff sorted through the mail that for the fifth year, will find its way to servicemen and women both here and abroad. Pitney-Bowes, which partners with Red Cross in making Holiday Mail such a success, gathers the cards after sorting, pays for postage and sends these cards on their way. Since the program started 5 years ago, more than 3.5 million cards have been distributed.
I wish we have the same thing at home, it would really make a big difference for those soldiers far away from home...
