My deconversion story

Briefly, religion failed at an early stage in its attempts at taking root in my psyche, and I was consequently unable to treat its fictions as reality.

So the idea that you "Deconverted" is a meaningless one. It has no substance. The only thing that you are doing is that you are withdrawing from a human social institution, known as the Roman Catholic Church, with its practices. It may be a good thing that you are withdrawing from it. It is an organisation that has substituted traditions instead of "sola scriptura" or the Scriptures/Bible. As such it has embraced and practiced heresy for a millenia, with resulting bad fruit.

@ZJemptv - so Strictly speaking you have not had a "Deconversion" or more accurately "Backsliddeness" because you were Not converted to Christ in the first place, according to scripture and Jesus words in John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God". You were never in that position. Where the word says "see" it means to have the revelation of Christ, which you have not had.

@ZJemptv Your "experience" of religion is as far removed from being a "follower of Christ" as the east is from the west. That is why strictly speaking you are no authority to speak on the Christian faith, either positively or negatively.

But you are right! You haven't been a follower of Christ. You never received Christ and you were never converted by Christ. To be a real Christian, you have to be Born of the Spirit of God. That won't mean much to you, because you have no idea what I am talking about! It is because you were never Born spiritually, that you have no perspective at all on the destiny of your life, other's life, the meaning of life or of the world.

@ZJemptv - yours is a sad story, I agree. You had a Roman Catholic indoctrination and family relationship problems, together with the loss of your real Dad. Taken all together, you have been through a difficult childhood and are still struggling to come to terms with your life.
