hi guys i want to get this sound on my xr6 turbo do i have to put a bigger intercooler on to get it? or what do i have to do to get that sound everyone has a different opinion. and will it fuck my turbo is this true?
-
@VredesbyrdNoir, its just backpressure going back through the turbo i think
-
@sopaulsmovies, but it sounds awesome.....i would rather pay the money and hav a mad sounding car then car about performance
-
@VredesbyrdNoir happens when the throttle closes and the compression builds up due to poor/ no bov and or high boost setting on the wg... coming from a mechanical engineer that studied advanced fluid mechanics for 2 years
-
@VredesbyrdNoir comrpessor surge is actually underwot and after release, if the boost pressure isnt purged properly, it goes back into the compressor housing...causing surge.
-
@sopaulsmovies - True. But you have to admit. that's such a beautiful sound =]

@ryancharles1990 Bahaha

239 people don't own a turbo car and realize that this decreases turbo life and actually hurts hp and response time.

How many of the people saying it's compressor surge are automotive engineers who know what they're talking about? Sounds like wastegate flutter to me - compressor surge happens under load not after releasing the throttle.
