@mattiemjk YES! I totally agree! When Crockett and Tubbs are riding in the boat with The song "Voices" by Russ Ballard is just great TV!

The music and back-drop certainly dump the viewer in the middle of the action at street level.
I always liked the way "Frank" clears out the safe with such delicate care, discarding some items and selecting others as more suitable.

chicago was a very gritty place back in the early 80's and it still is in some sections.

Epic.............

@ampvega - I agree, Mann has created some great opening sequences, Thief ranks number one and a very close second is Calderons Return (cigarette boat ride to the bahamas) from Miami Vice..

Pure andrenaline! Thief explodes with this opening scene; Tangerine Dream, one of my all time favourite bands , just annihilates with one of their best tracks. The scene should have won an academy award for best use of sound and vision.

if it wasent for this there would be no HEAT!

Excellent

reminds me Blade runner in the style also, like these movies from that period, And of course the association to the music of TD
My favorite movie intro of all time. Very visual, like a great movie should be. 9 words of dialog in the first 9 minutes. (With the exception of the radio chatter.) That's just great film making!
