This is the "Tales of Terror" section of Thrasher's "A Blast From The Past and Present" skaterock video from 1986. Some of the earliest modern street skating on video from Mark Gonzales, Steve Rocco and Jesse Martinez. Even back then Gonz had the best style.

In addition to the "handstand shit" street skating was mostly about launching big air tricks off of big kicker ramps, which was also hard. Wall rides weren't easy either, or doing what you typically do now on a 10 inch wide board with no nose. You wouldn't have been pro back then.
Awesome, skating first and foremost should be about fun....and honestly, time machine or not i doubt many technical skills new kids would have a chance at being a pro back then, vert, pools, wall rides and launch ramps/street and variety of skills mattered then, not so much now, kickflip and popsicle stick boards with no character, kids who carry thier boards to skate at an enclosed climate controlled park indoors, fuck that shit..just go fucking skate
