What is Justification? John MacArthur & John Piper on Luke 18:10-14

Luk 18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. Luk 18:11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. Luk 18:12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.' Luk 18:13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

Amen, justification is such a great thing. Jesus really is our own only hope.Without this gift of justification to sinners made possible by Jesus' finished work, there would be no hope.I cannot tell you what a burden that lifts off of me.Thanks be to God for his grace!

Great commentary here by these two. Understanding justification is so important. The missionaries at my church are about to leave for Mexico and they always spend a lot of time brushing up on their understanding of justification before they go anywhere, because it's so vital to the gospel message.
