A Conversation with Louise Nevelson is a one-woman theatrical performance created to showcase the legendary artist, Louise Nevelson (played by award winning actress, Nancy Lewis).

The program was originally produced for the Saint Louis Art Museum as part of the annual focus on "Women in the Arts." The production has since been taken on tour to museums and venues around the country.

The performance is structured around the concept of a question and answer session. The themes addressed are the most significant issues in Nevelson's life -- her work (her use of color, found wood) and her personal life (marriage and motherhood). Every word that Ms. Lewis speaks is taken from a direct quote from Nevelson. In St. Louis, community artists were chosen in advance to pose scripted questions. Community leaders, docents or other locals have also filled this role.
