  • Seems to me 35 to 1 is going to smoke like crazy. Dosn't that Variable Ratio Oiler deliver 50 to 1 at Wide Open Throttle, and LESS oil at lower RPM? Good concept though, especially since fuel consumption is highest at WOT and most operators like to run at lower speeds. Personally I have bypassed VRO oiler and run at 50:1 all the time because the consequences of under-oiling are so catastrophic.

  • Use two gas tanks one with 50:1 for trolling , and another with 35 or 40:1 for speed run and a selector valve ,, that's it ,

  • mine is not working and was wondering can I by pass the injector pump. And then just do a 50 to 1 ratio mixture in the gas tank? If so what do I have to do to bypass the oil injector?

  • The symptoms you described are exactly what I was experiencing with my '88 50hp Evin with VRO. I got carb rebuild kits from Crowley.

Rebuilt the 2 carbs and resecured all the hose connections, about 12 places.. (I used metallic worm gear type where possible and I did use some new zip ties on the smaller dia hoses...really tightened them. I couldnt find the squeeze ratchet type you described. Whole job about 10 hrs, and you were right!!!! Engine runs like a champ! what a difference!

    Bless you!!

  • when I press on the button it stops the motor noise. I changed one relay a month ago, thought it was the same problem, so I changed the second relay but it did not help.. I'm a chick and had to get in the water to try and raise the motor...luckily a nice man jumped in the water with me at the ramp and we were able to unscrew pressure screw and at least get me out of the water.

  • Hey Marine Doc...can you help me? Limited income so I have to do for myself...My tilt motor runs, but won't go up or down,

  • Very Awesom ! Great little tip ,I`m going to be looking at a 50 HP VRO engine next week , I can check for that now , thanks ,,,

  • hahahhahahaaha

  • good way to fog it out for storage lol.........good info

  • This was a big time and money saver, dont let others tell you zip ties are sufficient!
