  • I mean its okay I guess... its a difficult piece to sing but its obvious that there wasn't enough time spent on dynamics or diction... I can't understand the majority of the words and I know this song very well..

I got a headache at what you chose for the climax of the song...

I think that you did a good job considering the fact that you were a high school choir .... however... Ive heard and been in much better high school choirs and we didn't need to post our stuff on youtube to get attention

  • I'm sorry, we didn't post this up to get attention. It was simply just so that the folks who sang this can watch and remember their performance.

  • this is really not very good... it's far too slow, and there are stray notes throughout the climax of the song.

  • COOL THANKS!

  • This is really... boring. Sorry. The words are disjointed and the dynamics don't seem to blend enough for a whitacre, but that doesn't really matter. Your choir is too small for this piece. It requires a strong voicing behind it. I'm sure that a chamber choir could sustain all the parts evenly, but that doesn't mean it would sound good. This piece needs a good concert choir. And blend. Lots more blend.

  • I've had so many concerts ruined by young kids and babies...It's so utterly frustrating for the audience and the recordings.

  • I wish the fidelity was better! Not too shabby for a HS choir, though I did find the tempo killing me. It's like I was leaning forward the whole time, urging it to press on, especially towards the end. Anywho, kudos.

  • I believe that some things were good in this song. but the thing hat drove me nuts the most was the soprano part didnt come out. especially the soprano 1

  • And for the record - they do observe most of the dynamics, they are clearly learning to listen to each other. Yes it's slow - I'm sure Mr W would ask for it to have more motion - but I'm sure most of those kids would make a better stab at spelling 'Consonants' than you...

  • NightWithTheEyes: Could you and the rest of the armchair critics with nothing better to do than prowl youtube looking for choral videos to dispense their ill-conceived vitriol upon, please go away and find something less offensive to do with your time?

You have no idea what the circumstances of this performance are, what the director and choir have been through to get to this point - and neither do I. But I'm happy to see them giving it a go, and so, clearly, is the audience.

  • The tempo is meant to be slow but not to the point where the choir is having to breath so much, the clarity was there, but a little bit bright!!! Darken the vowels and round out the mouth a little and think taller within the mouth!!! Don't move!!! Thats a choir no no lol!!! But overall great job, It is a very,VERY hard song to get just right!!!

  • listen to your own words hypocrite (no I don't care if that is spelled right or not) if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. And you really need to get a life if you have nothing better to do than insult a video of a high school choir, on the internet I might add. I bet you would butcher this song.

  • Nicely done for a small high school chamber group. Although the song is supposed to be slow, I think this is a little extreme though, but that is only because I have performed this song under the baton of the composer himself, and he did not go this slow. Dynamics are a bit extreme...transitioning between dynamics needs to be a little less "subito" (suddenly), and more gradual...poco a poco. Nice effort!

  • god i miss this.

  • It was too choppy. You guys got off key completely. I'm not saying this to be mean but you guys were off.
