"The Song of Mr. Phonograph" was written shortly after Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877.
The vocalist in this video is F. ROBERT REESER, accompanied by pianist J. Richard Smoker. The recording itself was made at
the Historical Society of Berks County, 940 Centre Ave., Reading, PA, on Friday evening, October 4, 2002, on the occasion of the exhibit opening commemorating THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INVENTION OF THE TALKING MACHINE...in the Society's Exhibition Hall. Thomas McCarthy of Reading--a major machine and phonograph memorabilia collector-- curated the exhibit, which drew record and machine collectors from all over the country.
On hand that evening was Peter Dilg of Baldwin, N.Y., who used something of a professional-type Edison cylinder
recording phonograph and horn. There are several copies of a 2-minute cylinder version of the song now playing.
Also in attendance that evening was Romanian pianist Vitalij Kuperij who made a series of two-minute cylinder records, some of which were announced by James L. Shulman of Bryn Mawr, PA.
Events of the evening were overseen by Historical Society president, Geo. M. Meiser, IX.
NOTE: More specifics will shortly be provided in regard to the sheet music itself, which appears to have been
published by G. Schirmer of NYC.
Which the point I was making to a friend that age has a major effect on recording and not the equipment. Thank you for helping me to prove my point and Thank You for posting

I'll always remember that evening. It was so wonderful hearing the recorded playback - sounded like it was recorded in 1900! I'll never forget being recorded on wax with a few other chaps singing Happy Birthday after the concert.
