Hey Guys- here's the lower extremity video I promised you all! Hope it helps!! This tutorial was done a bit slower than the rate you will want to go during your actual exam, so you can understand what is being taught and practice proper technique.
**For the exam, both upper, and lower extremities, including the vertebral column should be about 15 minutes total. So please keep that in mind while you are practicing.
Here is how you will be tested at the end of the semester, in this order:

2) CAPILLARY REFILL
3) TEMPERATURE
4) PULSES a) dorsalis pedis b) posterior tibial c) popliteal d) femoral
5) MASSES
6) REFLEXES a) plantar b) achilles c) patellar
7) KNEE EXPLORATION a) cajon b) bostezo c) meniscos
8) MEASUREMENTS OF LEG -length of the entire leg, then midpoints of thigh and leg -circumference of thigh/leg
9) MOVEMENTS OF ANKLES AND TOES -hold ankles as patient flexes, extends, inversion, eversion, abduction, adduction
10) MOVEMENTS OF KNEES AND HIPS *patient is standing, following the examiner aka the "hokey pokey!" a) knees: flex and extend b) hips: flex, ext, hyperext, abd, add, cirum, int rotation, ext rotation

@s0ysauce09
she's doing various things which include checking for presence and strength of 4 pulses on each leg and feeling for any local abnormalities in temperature. You should NOT try to assess pulses and temperature abnormalities with gloves on (for obvious reasons).
Washing your hands before and after the assessment protects both the patient and the care provider sufficiently.
According to the two textbooks and 5 professors with 25+ years of experience, we aren't "learning it wrong".

@s0ysauce09 I just learned this assessment in class today, and we were instructed not to use gloves; instead, we wash hands before and after the assessment. the only time we use gloves is if we observe any warts or conditions like athletes foot.
