Students learning fire and movement with the M249 SAW. This was shot by myself at Camp Pendleton, CA, Infantry Training Battalion.

These are very new Marines, and this is only their second time handling the SAW. After a familiarization static shoot with the weapon, we do this training. It is not designed to teach accuracy. The purpose of these drills is to teach them how long to rush (I'm up, he sees me, I'm down), proper procedure for handling the weapon during the rush, and quickly getting back down into position. They get much better at this later on in training, and when they hit their units, they will no doubt be taught more advanced skills.
