Sorry it took me so long, but in this video I finally take down my bantu knots - after 48 hours! So a few words of wisdom - via experience because wisdom is still growing on me LOL - here goes:

1. Oil your scalp before the bantu knots - a supple scalp and damp hair is more supple and "gives" more than dry scalp/hair.

2. Try to get them as dry as possible - my husband and I have friends who own a salon so I was able to sit under a professional dryer for about 35-40 minutes. I have a table-top dryer but it's so old that it doesn't work well.

3. Obviously, the longer your hair, the longer it will take to get your hair completely dry. I waited 48 hours and it was perfect!

4. When taking your hair down, you can do what I did - which is completely unravel them for a fuller look - or leave them "bound", which will make your curls last longer...

5. I started my locs/lox with two-strand twists and tightened them with the latchook method. I decided earlier this year that the latchook method was robbing me of some length, so I decided to palm roll my new growth. However, afterl latchooking for so long, my hair became accustomed to that method and wouldn't stay in the roll, so I have found that bantu knots are a great way of training the hair to staying "rolled." Additionally, it also aids my new growth to roll-set ALL the way down the new growth.

To wrap up - bantu knots are great for any type of hair to get that roller-set look without rollers and to smooth out the hair at the scalp. I love it!

  • @NickoLibat Yeah.. I agree with you.. At the one year mark, I can say that I have definitely improved since day one. I used to use a concealer on my scalp to help thicken my hair and now I dont even need it anymore. Thanks by the way for sharing this hair loss treatment at the site HairLoss101. net (remove space).. :))
