The Ramada Singers came out of Columbia, SC. The group consisted of James Johnson, L.C. Jacobs, George Heyward Griffin, Charles Crawford, and Michael Pazery. The Su-Ann label was another Hoyt Sullivan concern. This song began as a slave song with a coded escape message and became a gospel standard.
