This isn't a Godzilla movie. He's just appearing in a cameo capacity in a imaginary sequence.

Not sure what that means. If anything that's a decent resume to make a Godzilla film. Not like Godzilla films require much of a story.

And while I can't say that I'm a big fan of Michael Bay (his movies are shallow and his TMNT alien plot is blasphemy), his penchant for over the top special effects and destruction would suit a G flick and maybe even do the monster some justice.

Technically the American film didn't have Godzilla in it. That monster was Zilla.

I've actually mentioned the 1954 film and the 1985 film in a previous comment. The mention of Bay has that kind of volatile effect on people (not you). Either way, I watch Godzilla films regardless of how bad it might be/is. I enjoy the camp, the fiction/mythos and action. Bay might fuck it up all to hell but, it's so trivial to me that a hypothetical that I brought up a year ago on a video playing a fake Godzilla scene has so many people riled up. It's at least been a good laugh.

What's to say Godzilla movies can't have a good story. It's not like they didn't try. The original Godzilla focused more on the heartbreak and sort of the paranoia of the nation, and then it went all shitfuck lol

The recent ones had a story, they weren't that good though lol I can only think of Godzilla 1998 of having a somewhat decent story.

Well the first movie DID have a story going on....The rest were just beat-em up movies...Which didn't require such deep story...But Gojira DID however have a pretty deep story.

While cinematographer isn't exactly the same as in charge of special effects the Godzilla reboot has the guy from the Avengers in charge of cinematography

Not direct, there is already a person doing that.....But maybe if he was in charge of the special effects?
