Syd (Peter Mullan) shows us how not to draw attention from other guards at Bexhill refugee camp with the fugee face... Peter Mullan is indeed the genius of acting and can make us laugh in the most depressing moments of the film. If Judi Dench won her Oscar for "Shakespeare in Love" for only 8 minutes on screen, Mullan deserves it as well.. Enjoy the "Fugee Face" scene and, repeat it as many times as you wish... It never gets boring

btw.. Children of Men is still my most favourite film

  • @Hissanrach Smashed in jaw. Unconscious.

  • @Combine605 Syd was a strange but to me funny character. He's obviously kind of "off", due partly to the fact that he talks in third person but his reasoning and sense of humor. Shame he tried to turn them in though. Did he die or just get knocked out? That was a pretty hefty blow to the head he took but I kind of doubt that a single hit would kill a human.

  • At 0:11 he's actually saying "That's good, that's good" not "Let's go" :) gr8 up tho!

  • @Combine605 You're kinda right, but I think it has to do with the fact that, often in military environments you are to refer to yourself without using pronouns. Instead, like in the marines, you refer to yourself as "This recruit" and so on and so forth. So, it might have just become normal to him over time. Great movie though, and awesome character.

  • @Docus254 Tends to happen in that environment. Apart from protocol, guidelines, orders and all that people in general should be pretty depressed without kids. Maybe it's not directly kids but the knowledge that this may be the last generation without some miracle.

  • Hehe, the fascist pig... Syd was indeed a very remarkable character even though he didn't have that much screentime. I wonder what's wrong with that guy though, always talking about himself in 3rd person.
