I'm learning Russian too. A method I use is watching films with subtitles in both English and Russian, then using a notebook to create an interlinear text to study. A good film to start with is Иван Васильевич меняет профессию Ivan Vasiliavich Back To the Future.
Modern language courses lack direct involvement, emotional stimulus. I think the remedy might be a RPG that requires you to learn the language to survive the game. So I'm learning C++ too. . . .

I was reading you comment and I wondered if you actually learnt any languages until I read the last line. The fact that your from Colombia must mean that you learnt English. Kool. I'm on my way to Spanish fluency.

Hello Steve, excellent comments!!
I have not read the book but I have worked hard to learn languages for a long time.
The only thing I disagree is that there are words that do not stick. It is true that some are easier to learn than others but in the end you can learn every word.
Regards from Bogota, Colombia
i'm trying to learn spanish simply by reading it. we'll see!
